FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing a modified diene-containing (co)polymer used as a flame retardant (antipyrene) in different polymers and polymer compositions. Method involves modifying a solution of an initial diene-containing (co)polymer in an organic solvent to obtain a reaction mass containing a modified diene-containing (co)polymer in an organic solvent. Reaction mass obtained at step (a) is then neutralized and the aqueous and organic layers are separated. After that, water layer separated at stage (b) is heated with formation of solvent vapour flow (flow 1) and organic layer separated at stage (b) is deposited for separation of modified diene-containing (co) polymer from reaction solution containing solvent (flow 2). Stream 2 is cleaned in rectification column to produce flow 3 of distillate (purified solvent). Flows 1 and 3 are mixed to produce solvent stream 4. Part of stream 4 is fed for irrigation of rectification column to obtain distillate-solvent, which is further recirculated to stage (a).

EFFECT: technical result is reduction of solvent losses due to its recycling to synthesis stage of modified diene-containing (co)polymer, improvement of energy efficiency of the rectification column and, consequently, reduction of the number of apparatuses required for purification of the solvent, as well as reduction of the amount of process wastes formed during production of the fire retardant.
