FIELD: scrap processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the processing of copper-containing scrap coated with tin and/or its alloys, and can be used to obtain semi-finished products from copper, including cathode copper, from waste products such as copper parts, copper wires coated with tin or tin-lead solders. The method for processing tinned copper waste includes electrochemical treatment of said waste with an applied external electric current using the waste being processed as an anode. As an electrolyte, a copper sulphate electrolyte containing a 5-30% solution of sulphuric acid and 10-80 g/l of copper sulphate is used, the process is carried out at 10-80°C and current density of 100-300 A/m2, and to isolate tin compounds from the spent electrolyte, an oxidizing agent is added to it and the resulting tin acid is separated by filtration.
EFFECT: method provides an increase in efficiency while simplifying the technology for processing tinned copper waste, providing for the removal of tin-containing coatings (tin plate, solder), including those containing lead or their alloys.
