STABLE IMMOBILIZED AMINE SORBENTS FOR EXTRACTION OF REE AND HEAVY METALS FROM LIQUID SOURCES Russian patent published in 2023 - IPC B01J20/10 B01J20/26 B01J20/28 B01D53/56 C22B59/00 C02F1/28 C08G73/02

Abstract RU 2796297 C2

FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to capture of various rare earth elements (hereinafter – REE) and heavy metals and includes materials, methods for their preparation, and methods for the use of described compounds in various applications. One of embodiments of the invention relates to a stable regenerated immobilized amine sorbent, where the amine sorbent is characterized by a combination of covalently immobilized polyamine bound to silicon oxide, using epoxysilane, where covalently immobilized polyamine is polyethyleneimine having molecular weight (Mw) of 800, with epoxysilane, which is 2-(3,4-epoxycyclohexyl)ethyltrimethoxysilane, where the immobilized amine sorbent provides adsorption of rare earth elements La, Y, Ce, Yb, Eu, Nd, Yb, and Pr from liquid. In another embodiment of the invention, the immobilized amine sorbent is characterized by the presence of a porous crosslinked polymer network consisting of polyethyleneimine having molecular weight (Mw) of 800 in a combination with covalent crosslinking agents, while the porous crosslinked polymer network is amino-epoxy monolith immobilized on silicon oxide, and the covalent crosslinking agent for monolith is selected from a group consisting of diepoxide such as diglycidyl ether of bisphenyl A, triepoxide such as n-n-diglycidyl-4-glycidyloxyaniline, and tetraepoxide such as 4,4'-methylenbis(n,n-diglycidylaniline). Methods for the manufacture of a stable regenerated immobilized amine sorbent and methods for the use of material of a stable regenerated sorbent for capture of at least one of rare earth elements La, Y, Ce, Yb, Eu, Nd, Yb, and Pr from liquid or capture from a liquid source of at least one natural element selected from a group consisting of barium and strontium are also described.

EFFECT: provision of a selective sorbent capturing ≥95% of both various individual REE and REE mixtures containing La, Y, Ce, Yb, Eu, Nd, Yb, and Pr at a concentration in H2O of 5-100 ppm; high affinity of the sorbent to REE, and not to Na, Ca, K, and Mg, which it did not adsorb, confirms the preferred adsorption of valuable metals with this sorbent; The sorbent can capture barium and/or strontium, as well as heavy metals Pb, Cu, Zn, Fe, Al, Mn, Ni, Mg, as well as a group of lanthanide metals Pm, Sm, Gd, Tb, Ho, Er, Tm, and Lu; sorbents are characterized by stability after 3 cycles of adsorption/release/regeneration, which allows the use of sorbents in industrial processes of REE capture from aqueous solutions.
