FIELD: testing; building materials.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to testing porous building materials such as ceramic bricks and ceramic stones for frost resistance. The method for determining the frost resistance of a porous material of brick or ceramic stone includes the following steps: providing at least one sample of ceramic brick or stone with a given weight in a dry state; the first partial immersion of the mentioned sample in water, subsequent extraction and determination of its mass after 2.4 hours of soaking in water; re-immersion of said sample partially in water, subsequent extraction and determination of its mass after 48 hours of soaking in water from the moment the sample was first immersed in water; subsequent drying of said sample at a temperature of 120°C and determination of its mass after 0.6 h of drying; based on the obtained masses of the sample, determining the amount of water absorbed in 2.4 hours and the amount of water evaporated in 0.6 hours for the said sample and calculating the frost resistance of the sample based on these data.
EFFECT: reducing the time and simplifying the methodology for testing the frost resistance of porous materials.
