The adjustment includes: obtaining the brightness of the ambient light in the first display scenario, where the first display scenario includes any of a text reading script, a video script, or a game script; determining the backlight brightness of the screen in the first display scenario based on the ambient brightness and the first brightness adjustment rule, wherein the first brightness adjustment rule is determined based on at least two different ambient light brightnesses in the first display scenario, manually adjustable screen brightnesses corresponding to at least two various brightness levels of ambient light, and a pre-set auto-brightness algorithm; and adjusting the brightness of the screen of the electronic device based on the brightness of the screen backlight in the first display scenario, thereby avoiding frequent brightness adjustment by the user and improving the user's experience.

EFFECT: expansion of the functionality of automatic screen brightness adjustment.
