FIELD: oil refining.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related in particular to a process for producing petroleum coke, for use in the production of anode masses, manufacturing of electrodes for electric furnaces used for steel production, as a source of carbon in production of elemental phosphorus, titanium dioxide, calcium silicon carbides and graphite. Petroleum coke, characterized in that it contains from 4.8 to less than 10 wt.% and from more than 10 to 20 wt.% of carbon nanotubes. Process for preparing said petroleum coke is carried out by heating tar with carbon nanotubes in an amount from 1.2 to less than 2.5 wt.% and from more than 2.5 to 5.0 wt.% in an autoclave to a temperature of 450-550°C, followed by keeping at a pressure of 10 atm at the same temperature for 3 hours, then the resulting product is cooled in an autoclave to room temperature.
EFFECT: production of petroleum coke having a lower sulphur content and reduced electrical resistance.
