METHOD OF REMOVING CALCIFICATIONS IN CHILDREN WITH JUVENILE DERMATOMYOSITIS Russian patent published in 2023 - IPC A61B17/00 

FIELD: medicine; pediatric surgery.

SUBSTANCE: surgical intervention begins with a semilunar incision at the base of the calcification. Visualization of calcification is carried out by traction with lamellar hooks of the skin flap after a semilunar incision. Then, with the help of electrodermacoagulation, resection of calcification and tissue imbibed with calcium is carried out within healthy tissues. Wound suturing is carried out by fixing the skin flap only along the edges of the skin using suturing according to the McMillan-Donati method. Then, gauze bandages moistened with an antiseptic solution of povidone-iodine are applied to the skin flaps and sutures. Bandages are removed on the third postoperative day, and postoperative wounds and sutures are openly, without any bandages treated twice a day with an antiseptic solution of povidone-iodine, the sutures are removed on the seventh, tenth or fourteenth postoperative day. Repeated staged surgical removal of calcifications is carried out according to medical indications in a similar way.

EFFECT: method allows to radically remove multiple calcification formations, and the system of postoperative dressings allows to achieve satisfactory healing of postoperative wounds, maintains the viability of skin flaps and avoids extensive skin excisions, which, in addition to a poor cosmetic effect, can lead to the formation of cicatricial contractures; the method allows to achieve rapid healing of postoperative wounds, avoid severe pain without the use of narcotic analgesics, significantly improve the quality of life of the child, continue full socialization and return to school on a par with other peers.
