SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a portable electromagnetic induction welding device (1) for joining tapes (2) of adhesive materials in electrically conductive composite materials with a polymer matrix and a method for joining tapes (2) of adhesive materials in electrically conductive composite materials with polymer matrices. The base (3) of the portable electromagnetic induction welding device faces the working surface (4) and is configured to receive said tapes (2) of electrically conductive composite materials to be joined, or formed by at least one positioned tape (2). The working head (5) receives one tape (2) at a time and is movable relative to the base (3) along at least the first line (L1) of movement parallel to the working surface (4). A motorized lever (6) connects the working head (5) to the base (3) and is selectively activated to give movement to the working head (5). The feeding means (8) is selectively activated to feed one tape (2) at a time to the working head (5) and is connected to the working head (5). The working head (5) contains a positioning roller (9) that receives the tape (2) at a time. The pressure roller (10) is spaced apart from the positioning roller (9) and aligned with it along the first line (L1) of movement. The inductor (11) is inserted between the positioning roller (9) and the pressure roller (10) relative to the first line (L1) of movement.
EFFECT: it is possible to connect adhesive tapes (2) in electrically conductive polymer matrix composite materials of large size by using a portable device to obtain high-quality welds.
