FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicinal preparations based on iron coordination compounds, namely, to an antiviral agent, which is a system of compounds including an iron coordination compound containing a binuclear form of a dinitrosyl iron complex with glutathione ligands (B-DNIC-GSH) of the formula [(GS-)2Fe2+2(NO)2(NO+)2]2+, and sodium diethyldithiocarbamate (DETC) at a molar ratio of B-DNIC-GSH: DETC=1:1-5. A method of using the said agent is also proposed.
EFFECT: proposed agent has antiviral activity against SARS-CoV-2, as well as the ability to produce nitrosonium cations, and can be used to treat severe forms of viral pneumonia in COVID-19.
