METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR DETERMINING THE CAUSE OF EXCESSIVE FUEL CONSUMPTION Russian patent published in 2023 - IPC B60W40/09 F02D41/22 G01C21/34 B60R16/23

Abstract RU 2798250 C2

FIELD: vehicles.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and system for determining the cause of excessive fuel consumption. The method for monitoring and determining excessive fuel consumption by a ground vehicle, implemented by the network infrastructure, includes steps that are carried out sequentially. A set of input parameters is carried out, related to environmental conditions and task performance, with technical vehicles and with the driving style of the vehicle, on the basis of which the first expected fuel consumption over time is estimated. Then, a second acquisition of the measured fuel consumption over time is carried out, and the obtained fuel consumption measurements are compared in real time, thereby obtaining an error value over time. If the value rises sharply, a flag will be activated indicating the condition of excessive fuel consumption. Next, a set of input parameters associated with the ideal driving behaviour of the vehicle is obtained, and the expected fuel consumption over time is estimated based on the selected input parameters. The values of the expected fuel consumption are compared, and if there is an offset that exceeds a predetermined threshold, then the cause is identified as incorrect operation of the vehicle. Next, a set of input parameters is obtained associated with stored records related to events regarding deviations and changes in the operating conditions of the engine and/or vehicle. Then, the moment of storing the record is compared with the moment of activation of the first flag to identify a causal relationship between anomalies or deviations of the recorded operating conditions and an increase in said error.

EFFECT: monitoring and determining excessive fuel consumption by a ground vehicle.
