FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to hydroacoustics and can be used for solving noise signal processing tasks in hydroacoustic systems, invention is intended for recognition of noise in case, when in one direction may be several noise sources, not separated by angle of observation. Disclosed method is based on receiving a noise process with a hydroacoustic antenna and measuring parameters of the noise process. When realizing the method, the measured number of time delays between signal arrivals on different beams is analysed, based on which a decision is made to observe a single object or group of objects.
EFFECT: enabling automatic and objective recognition of presence of a signal of a single object or a mixture of signals of several objects in a received noise process.
