FIELD: olefin polymerization technology.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to an olefin alcohol copolymer and a method for its preparation and use. The following is described: a copolymer of olefin and olefin alcohol, obtained in the form of spherical and/or spherically similar particles of the copolymer, where at least part of the spherical and/or spherically similar particles of the copolymer has a cavity inside, while the specified copolymer consists of a structural unit obtained from C2-C16 α-olefin, and a structural unit derived from an olefin alcohol represented by formula I
where in formula I, each L1-L3 is independently selected from the group consisting of H and L4 and is a C1-C10 alkylene having a side group, said side group is one or more groups selected from the group consisting of C1-C20 alkyl; and where in the said copolymer, the content of the structural unit obtained from the olefin alcohol, represented in formula I, is 0.4–30.0 mol.%. Also the following is described: a method of obtaining a copolymer of olefin and olefin alcohol, including contacting C2-C16 α-olefin and an olefin alcohol represented by formula II with a catalyst and with a chain transfer agent for reaction in the presence of an alkane solvent to obtain a copolymer. Also the use of a copolymer or copolymer obtained by the claimed method as an expandable polyolefin material is described.
EFFECT: provision of polymer by polymerization of olefin and olefin alcohol in the form of spherical and/or spherically similar particles, which does not require further processing, such as granulation.
