FIELD: nuclear energy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to passive heat removal systems (PHRS) of a nuclear reactor with a heavy liquid metal coolant (HLMC). The system includes a steam generator with an evaporator and a steam separator; a cooldown heat exchanger (HE), pipelines supplying steam from the steam separator; pipelines for draining condensate from the HE to the steam separator; shut-off valves on pipelines, heat removal devices. A direct-acting shut-off and control device is installed on the condensate drain pipeline configured for switching to the closed state under normal operating conditions in power modes by feed water pressure or by an electromagnet force. To fill the SF PHRS with the working medium, the steam supply valve to the second circuit with dried SG is opened and steam is supplied with a pressure exceeding the saturation pressure at a temperature above the HLMC melting point by a predetermined value that is greater than the saturation pressure corresponding to the HLMC temperature, but below the pressure at which valve opens.
EFFECT: increased safety of the unit and the efficiency of the PHRS in the absence of external energy sources.
