FIELD: chemical industry and environmental protection.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for purification of wastewater and air from industrial enterprises, in particular to a composition for the production of granular activated carbon. The composition includes a carbon-containing material comprising low-caking coal in the amount of 40-70 wt.%, and a composite oil binder. Moreover, the carbon-containing material additionally comprises petroleum coke with a volatile matter yield of 12-14 wt.% in the amount of 30-60 wt.%. The composition comprises a carbon-comprising material in the amount of 72-77 wt.% and a composite oil binder in the amount of 23-28 wt.%.
EFFECT: expanding the existing raw material range for obtaining carbon sorption materials of the required quality for purifying aqueous media and air using a mixture of powdered coal as a raw material with partial replacement of it with a low-value oil refining product – petroleum coke, and obtaining an adsorbent with a stable high specific surface area and sorption properties.
