FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of activated carbon. Method of producing activated carbon involves mixing homogenously fine coal and coal-tar pitch separately, forming a coal-pitch mixture, crushing and screening into a predetermined fraction. Obtained granules are thermally treated in the presence of air oxygen at temperature of 300–350 °C with holding at final temperature of 3–3.5 hours, carbonisation at 600–650 °C at a rate of raising temperature of 3–6 °C/min, vapor-gas activation at temperature of 920–950 °C to extent scorching of granules 30–35 %.
EFFECT: technical result consists in the possibility of using different grades of hard coal for producing activated carbon with high strength characteristics (not less than 80 %) and with developed volume of sorbing micropore (not less than 0_25 g/dm3).
