FIELD: chemical industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to produce granular activated carbons for cleaning gases and air, as well as catalyst carriers and chemical absorbers. Method involves mixing a binder with a carbon-containing material—coal, molding the obtained paste, two-stage thermal treatment of granules. Binder used is a coke-chemical resin in amount of 95–99 wt.%, into which a non-ionic surfactant is added—synthanol in amount of 1–5 wt.%.
EFFECT: improved viscosity characteristics of the binder, easier mixing of the carbon-containing material and the binder, the process of molding granules, obtaining granular activated carbon with high strength and fraction of micropores in sorption volume of pores of 88–95%.
