FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of activated carbon. Disclosed is a method of producing activated carbon, involving mixing to homogeneous mass of separately separated coal and coal-tar pitch, molding coal-pitch mixture, crushing and screening to obtain a given fraction, thermal treatment of granules in the presence of air oxygen at temperature of 300–350 °C, holding at final temperature of 3–3.5 hours, carbonisation at temperature of 600–650 °C, steam-gas activation at temperature of 920–950 °C to degree of burner 30–35 %, cooling of granules and their grinding to particle size of less than 100 mcm.
EFFECT: technical result consists in production of powdered activated carbon with high sorption properties (adsorption capacity for iodine of not less than 80 %).
