FIELD: operation of main gas pipelines.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to assess the degree of danger of defective ring joints in potentially hazardous areas with bending radii of the main gas pipeline less than 1000D, where D is the diameter of the pipeline. The method consists in analysing the data of in-pipe technical diagnostics for the purpose of conducting a diagnostic examination of a defective annular joint in pits. An additional analysis of the coincidence of the zone of the defective circumferential joint with the zone of the minimum bending radius with maximum bending stresses, tensile or compressive, is carried out. If the defective annular joint is located in the zone of compressive stresses, then its diagnostic examination in the pits may be ignored. If the defective annular joint is located in the zone of tensile stresses, then its diagnostic examination is carried out in the pits.
EFFECT: diagnostics of gas pipelines is carried out.
