FIELD: measuring technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention is used for high-precision determination of the level of a dielectric liquid in a container. In particular, it can be used to measure the level of oil products, liquefied gases, etc. According to the method, a volumetric waveguide resonator is placed vertically in the container, the liquid level in which is equal to its level in the container. A substance with a frequency-dependent permittivity is placed in the cavity of the resonator. In addition, the volume of the resonator cavity is changed as a function of the liquid level when the walls of this cavity are compressible or stretchable for a part of the length of the waveguide resonator, electromagnetic oscillations are excited in this resonator with a variable volume of its cavity at the first and second resonant frequencies corresponding to the first and second frequency ranges of the change in dielectric constant substances with frequency-dependent permittivity. The first and second resonant frequencies are measured, and then a joint functional transformation of the measured first and second resonant frequencies of the resonator with a variable volume of its cavity is performed.
EFFECT: improved measurement accuracy.
