SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measuring technology and can be used for high-precision determination of the level of a dielectric liquid in any reservoir, regardless of the dielectric constant of the liquid. In a method for measuring the level of a dielectric liquid in a tank, in which a waveguide is placed vertically in the tank, at one of the ends of which, in the first dimension, electromagnetic waves of a fixed frequency are excited in the waveguide, the frequency of the excited electromagnetic waves is chosen below the critical frequency, electromagnetic signals are received after their propagation along the waveguide at the same or another end and measure the amplitude of the electric field strength, additionally, in the second dimension, the frequency of the excited electromagnetic waves is selected above the critical frequency, electromagnetic oscillations are excited in the waveguide as in the waveguide resonator, the resonant frequency of the electromagnetic oscillations of the waveguide resonator is measured, a joint functional transformation of the measured values of the amplitude and resonant frequency is performed in the first and second measurements, respectively , and judge the level of the dielectric liquid by the result of this conversion.
