FIELD: petrochemical industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a system and method for producing insoluble sulphur. The system for producing insoluble sulphur includes a polymer tank with a first discharge opening and a quench tower with a loading opening, where the first discharge opening is in connection with the loading opening. The quench tower has a cylindrical body and includes a granulating device and a dispersing pump. A solvent inlet and a quench inlet are located in the side wall of the body, which are respectively used to supply the solvent and the quench agent. The production method includes raising the temperature of liquid sulphur in the presence of an initiator in a nitrogen atmosphere to carry out the polymerization reaction. The polymerized material is introduced into the quench tower for granulation and quenching. In the quench tower, solidification and extraction in the presence of a solvent, as well as crushing and extraction in the circulating liquid phase are carried out.
EFFECT: obtaining insoluble sulphur with high purity, high thermal stability and high yield.
