FIELD: watches and other time measuring instruments.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a hair intended for installation in balance of a clock mechanism, and to a method for making such a hair. Method of making such a hair comprises: a step of making a workpiece from a niobium-titanium alloy containing: niobium: residue up to 100 wt%; titanium: from 40 to 60 wt%; traces of elements from the group, which includes O, H, C, Fe, Ta, N, Ni, Si, Cu, Al, each of which ranges from 0 to 1,600 mln-1 by weight and which together form 0 to 0.3 wt%; stage β-punning of said workpiece of specified diameter, so that titanium of said alloy was mainly in form of solid solution with β-phase niobium, and content α-phase titanium was less than or equal to 5 % by volume; at least one stage of deformation of said alloy alternating with at least one heat treatment step so that obtained niobium-titanium alloy has elastic limit greater than or equal to 600 MPa, and modulus of elasticity less than or equal to 100 GPa. Stage of winding for hair formation is performed till final thermal treatment stage. Prior to the deformation step, the method includes a step of applying on a workpiece of an alloy of a surface layer of plastic material selected from a group comprising copper, nickel, nickel, copper-manganese alloy, gold, silver, nickel-phosphorus NiP and nickel-boron NiB, note here that said surface layer of plastic material is retained by hair, while temperature coefficient of elasticity of niobium-titanium alloy is adjusted accordingly.
EFFECT: invention provides reduced sensitivity to magnetic field effect, improved temperature compensation and simplified manufacturing process.
