FIELD: video coding and decoding.
SUBSTANCE: dedicated buffer is initiated to refer to an intra block copy, IBC, when the current coding tree unit, CTU, to be decoded is the first CTU in the CTU row. It is determined whether the current block is predicted in the current CTU using the IBC mode. The IBC block vector for the current block is obtained when the current block is predicted using the IBC mode. The predicted sample values for the current block are obtained based on the references obtained from the allocated buffer and on the IBC block vector for the current block in which the reference samples obtained from the allocated buffer are initialized to a default value.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of video coding.
