SUBSTANCE: invention relates to image processing and, more specifically, to signaling image splitting information for slices. Disclosed is a method of encoding/decoding, which is implemented by a decoding device and a decoder, wherein the method includes: obtaining a bit stream for a current image; obtaining the number of tiles in the row of tiles of the current image; obtaining the address value of the current slice, the current slice is contained in the current image; obtaining tileX value according to current slice address value; parsing the slice width indication value from the bitstream for the current image when the value of the difference between the number of tiles in the row of tiles of the current image and the tileX value is not equal to the first threshold value.

EFFECT: improved compression ratio with minimal loss of image quality or without such loss at all.
