SUBSTANCE: invention relates to hopper cars for the transportation and unloading of bulk cargo, mainly hopper-dispensers for unloading ballast onto the railway track, mainly crushed stone during the construction, repairs and routine maintenance of the railway track, and can be applied to other special rolling stock in activities related to the unloading and distribution of bulk cargo. The device for controlling the volume of bulk cargo unloaded from a hopper car, comprising a body ending in a hopper with an unloading opening covered by a rotary lid, consists of a unit for measuring the unloaded bulk cargo, comprising a cover position sensor and a computing unit, and a module for comparing the calculated value of bulk cargo with a given value of the unloaded volume. The lid position sensor is connected to the time sensor and is configured to turn off whenever the lid closes the discharge opening, and turns it on when the discharge opening becomes open, and with a computing unit comprising a module for calculating the volume of unloaded cargo as a product of the time interval between successive switching on and off the time sensor and the area of the open part of the discharge opening and the known speed of the outflow of cargo from the hopper. Bulk cargo volume control consists in determining the time the lid is held open. The obtained time values are fed into the module of the computing device for calculating the product of time by the area of the open part of the discharge opening and the known value of the ballast outflow rate from the hopper and are compared with the specified values of the unloaded cargo volume.

EFFECT: invention provides automatic unloading of cargo without human intervention in the amount corresponding to the process, eliminates the influence of the human factor on the unloading process and the unloading volume with the possibility of subsequent unloading control.
