SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to apparatuses for measuring the distance between an element of a hopper-batcher and the railway track. Apparatus for measuring the distance between the rolling stock, primarily a hopper-batcher, and the railway track, comprises a contact-free measuring unit consisting of an emitter generating a signal transmission to the reflector and a signal receiver receiving the reflected signal, installed on the rolling stock, as well as information processing units linked with the emitter and the receiver: conversion, storage, calculation, display, and transmission units. The body of the apparatus containing the emitter and receiver herein is installed under the frame and is secured to the spring-loaded element of the rolling stock, configured to move freely and be secured above the signal-reflecting rail. Also claimed is a method for setting the height of the batcher of the hopper-batcher using the distance measuring apparatus.
EFFECT: compliance with the parameters of the technological process without stopping the track works and reduction in the non-productive ballast consumption.
