FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: following is proposed: a method of non-contact inactivation of pathogenic bacteria by irradiating the surface on which pathogenic bacteria in planktonic form are present with femtosecond laser infrared radiation with a wavelength of 3 μm, with a pulse repetition rate of 10 kHz at a power density of 1.2⋅108W/cm2 for 5 min or at a wavelength of 6 µm with a pulse repetition rate of 10 kHz at a power density of 8⋅106 W/cm2 for 3–5 min (options).
EFFECT: reduction of colony-forming units of pathogenic bacteria in planktonic form on irradiated surfaces without the use of chemical reagents.
