FIELD: non-ferrous metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: method for processing acidic titanium-containing solutions to obtain titanium dioxide or titanium (III) salts for the needs of various industries. The main consumers include the production of catalysts, reagents for analytical purposes and water purification. Processing of acidic titanium-containing solutions includes extraction of titanium from an acidic solution with di-(2-ethylhexyl)phosphoric acid, treatment of the resulting extractant with a solution of sulfuric or hydrochloric acid with the addition of hydrogen peroxide. Acid sulfate-titanium-containing solutions for the processing of diopside or red mud with a content of titanium compounds from 5 to 20 g/l are used as initial solutions. The sulfate solution obtained by treating the extractant with a solution of sulfuric or hydrochloric acid with the addition of hydrogen peroxide is subjected to electrolysis on titanium, aluminum or iron electrodes at a current density of 10-30 A/dm2 to obtain titanium sulfate (III) and titanium dioxide in the form of titanium acid H4TiO4.
EFFECT: method makes it possible to use large-capacity waste as a raw material with the expansion of the range of products obtained in the form of titanium dioxide and titanium (III) compounds.
