FIELD: inorganic chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the manufacture of pigments, fillers and reagents for photocatalytic and sorption purification of water contaminated with impurities of organic and inorganic origin. Titanium sulphate or chloride or their mixtures are interacted with hydrogen peroxide solution at pH 6.0-11.0. Then the resulting peroxide complex is destroyed by anodic oxidation on titanium electrodes at a current density of 10-20 A/dm2. The resulting precipitate of titanium hydroxide is washed and dried at a temperature of 105°C with obtaining the target product – titanium dioxide.
EFFECT: reduction in energy consumption, reduction in process time and reduction in equipment dimensions.
