SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a cutting tool for cutting pipes in the petrochemical industry. A method for cutting pipes at a well site includes positioning a cutting tool in the first position outside the tubular structure, squeezing the tubular structure in the first position by activating a partial translational cutting motion of a non-rotating cutting element to obtain a depressed area in the tubular structure, positioning the cutting tool in the second position outside the tubular structure. The second position is shifted by a predetermined distance relative to the first position. This is followed by cutting the tubular structure in the second position by activating the full translational cutting motion of the non-rotating cutting element through the tubular structure.

EFFECT: provides cutting of multi-pipe assemblies without the need for pre-pinning.
