FIELD: coating materials.
SUBSTANCE: method for producing a composite wear-resistant coating on a carbide tool in a vacuum. A layer containing a nanocrystalline phase and a matrix amorphous phase of silicon nitride Si3N4 is applied to a hard-alloy tool by vacuum-arc evaporation. Said nanocrystalline phase consists of TiAlSiN or TiCrAlSiN crystallites, wherein a layer of titanium diboride TiB2 with a thickness of 0.7-1.5 mcm is deposited on said layer by magnetron sputtering.
EFFECT: increased productivity of a hard-alloy tool.
