FIELD: manufacturing technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a metal cutting tool, in particular, to cutting plates and mills used for processing articles from hard-to-process materials, including titanium and its alloys. Cutting tool with wear-resistant coating, containing cutting edges formed at intersection of front and rear surfaces of hard-alloy base of cutting part, in which wear-resistant coating includes at least structure made of TiB2. Structure formed from TiB2, contains at least serially applied TiB2 intermediate layer and wear-resistant TiB2 layer. Intermediate layer has column metallographic structure with predominant orientation 001. Wear-resistant layer contains at least a layer with an internal structure with textured nanocolumnar grains with orientation 001 with an amorphous p-phase within the boundaries of said grains.
EFFECT: higher resistance of cutting tool with TiB2-containing coating.
