FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: in two-layer abrasion resistant coating on working part of cutting tool the upper layer is made from hard amorphous diamond-like carbon with the width 0.3-0.5 mcm and hardness 70-100 GPa, and the underlayer on the surface of the working part of the tool, is made from titanium carbide with carbon content 30-45 at. % with the width 1-1.5 mcm and hardness 25-40 GPa.
EFFECT: high thermal stability of the coating at high speeds of cutting and durability of the tool, that allows to increase a working resource of the cutting tool.
