FIELD: image coding.
SUBSTANCE: video coding/decoding devices are proposed, where, in order to efficiently encode residual blocks obtained from block-based motion compensation, the devices divide the corresponding residual block of the current block into two sub-blocks in the horizontal or vertical direction and encode only one residual sub-block of the two residual sub-blocks, whereas when the current block is a brightness block, a horizontal transform kernel and a vertical transform kernel for said one sub-block are determined based on the relative position of said one sub-block in the current sub-block.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of encoding/decoding.
