FIELD: image coding.
SUBSTANCE: method and device for encoding/decoding video images is provided, where, in order to efficiently encode residual blocks obtained from block-based motion compensation, the video encoding and decoding device divides the corresponding residual block of the current block into two subblocks in the horizontal or vertical direction and encodes only one residual subblock from two residual subblocks, setting a grid of N samples at equal intervals in the horizontal and vertical directions, and performing deblocking filtering on the border between two subblocks in the current block, which coincides with the grid border.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of encoding/decoding.
