METHOD OF SURGICAL TREATMENT OF INTERCOSTAL PULMONARY HERNIA Russian patent published in 2023 - IPC A61B17/94 A61F2/90 A61L27/02 

FIELD: medicine; thoracic surgery.

SUBSTANCE: dissection of the skin and subcutaneous tissue of the chest is performed in the projection of a formed hernia defect identified in the intercostal space. The hernial protrusion is mobilized in a blunt manner through an incision, followed by plastic surgery of the hernial orifice with an endoprosthesis based on a synthetic mesh plate. The endoprosthesis in the form of a rolled-up synthetic mesh plate is inserted into the pleural cavity through a thoracoport installed in the intercostal space opposite the hernial protrusion. The mesh plate of the endoprosthesis is straightened in the projection of the hernial orifice. The extreme sections of the mesh plate of the endoprosthesis are displaced beyond the above and below the ribs in the area of the hernia defect. The endoprosthesis mesh plate is fixed by suturing it to the indicated ribs with interrupted sutures along the ribs and by tying knots extrapleurally.

EFEFCT: method allows to increase the effectiveness of surgical treatment of intercostal pulmonary hernia, prevent relapse, and reduce pain.
