FIELD: hydrocarbon processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to a process for manufacturing propylene and a low sulfur fuel oil component comprising the following steps: putting heavy feed oil in contact with a solvent for extraction separation and obtaining deasphalted oil and de-oiled asphalt; contacting the deasphalted oil and optionally a light starting oil with a catalytic conversion catalyst in order to produce a reaction and obtain a reaction product containing propylene; separating the reaction product to produce a catalytic cracking distillate oil; and hydrodesulphurizing the catalytic cracking distillate oil to produce a low sulphur hydrogenated distillate oil, the low sulphur hydrogenated distillate oil and/or oil-free asphalt being suitable for use as a fuel oil component.
EFFECT: conversion of saturated hydrocarbons in the heavy feedstock into propylene, avoidance of using saturated hydrocarbons in the fuel oil component, improved economic and social benefits.
