FIELD: medicine; surgery.
SUBSTANCE: continuous suture is first made to the diaphragm defect in the direction from the posterior corner of the defect to the anterior corner, leaving 1.5–2 cm of the defect unsutured. Through the unsutured part of the defect, the tip of the aspirator is inserted into the upper parts of the pleural cavity relative to the horizon. A purse-string suture is placed around it. Air is removed from the pleural cavity with forced ventilation of the lungs. The purse-string suture is tightened while removing the aspiration device.
EFFECT: method makes it possible to eliminate intraoperative pneumothorax after diaphragm resection during peritonectomy, to ensure tightness between the edges of the diaphragm and the aspirator tip, to increase the efficiency and safety of peritonectomy.
