FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: elastic vibrations are successively excited and local zones of the inspected article are loaded with a connected mass to form a 'article section - connected mass' oscillatory system; vibration parameters are recorded and the relationship between vibration parameters and the position of the connected mass is used to determine presence of a defect and its position on the article; wherein the elastic vibrations are excited by a hammer having a through axial hole, and the analysed area is bounded by its contact surface, wherein the presence and position of a defect is determined from the change in the amplitude-frequency characteristic of the received signal.
EFFECT: high quality of vibroacoustic inspection of articles.
