FIELD: nuclear industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to decontaminate equipment from surface radioactive contamination, in particular the equipment of the primary circuit of the cooling system of nuclear power plant (NPP) reactors. The first circuit of the reactor is filled with water, thereby moistening the decontaminated surface of the equipment of the first circuit of the cooling system, heated to a temperature of 70-95°C. Then, when draining water from it, gaseous ozone is simultaneously directed into the cavity freed from water onto the surface of the equipment moistened with water. A thin film of water is formed at the border between the metal and the water surface, providing conditions for reaction Cr2O3 + 3O3 + 2H2O = 2CrO4- + 4H+ + 3O2. This allows oxidizing the surface of the equipment and effectively dissolving the oxide film of chromium. The reaction products are washed off into distillation residues.
EFFECT: invention improves the efficiency of decontamination and reduces the decontamination time.
