SUBSTANCE: method for obtaining modified hyaluronic acid and its salts includes modification of hyaluronic acid and its salts by covalent intra- and intermolecular chemical cross-linking using cross-linking agents based on substituted oxiranes selected from 1,4-butanediol diglycidyl ether, polyethylene glycol diglycidyl ether and combinations thereof. Then neutralization is carried out to pH of 6.0-8.5 using hydrochloric acid, covalent binding of the residues of free epoxy groups in the composition of cross-linked hyaluronic acid and / or its salts with an amino acid and deactivation of the free residual cross-linking agent by adding amino acids, while the molar ratio of the cross-linking agent and added amino acid is from 1:0.1 to 1:5. After that, the residues of the deactivated cross-linking agent are purified by a dialysis process.
EFFECT: production of composition based on modified cross-linked hyaluronic acid by interaction with cross-linking agents, which has low toxicity.
