FIELD: medicine; ophthalmology.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to predict the type of course of 1-2 stages of active retinopathy of prematurity (RP) according to ultrasound biomicroscopy. To do this, ultrasonic biomicroscopy is performed, and on the obtained images, the thickness of the ciliary body is measured at a distance of 1 and 2 mm from the scleral spur. With values of the thickness of the ciliary body at a distance of 2 mm from the scleral spur in the range of 0.310±0.010 mm a favorable type of course of the 1st stage of active RP with regression of the 1st stage is predicted. With values of the thickness of the ciliary body at a distance of 2 mm from the scleral spur in the range of 0,280±0,007 mm an unfavorable type of course of the 1st stage of active RP with progression into the 2nd stage is predicted. With values of the thickness of the ciliary body at a distance of 1 mm from the scleral spur in the range of 0.380±0.012 mm, and at a distance of 2 mm - in the range of 0.270±0.009 mm - a favorable type of course of the 2nd stage of active RP with regression of the 2nd stage is predicted. With values of the thickness of the ciliary body at a distance of 1 mm from the scleral spur in the range of 0.360±0.017 mm, and at a distance of 2 mm - in the range of 0.240±0.008 mm - an unfavorable type of course of the 2nd stage of active RP with progression to into the 3rd stage is predicted.

EFFECT: invention provides a reliable prognosis of the course type of stages 1 and 2 of active RP based on the results of ciliary body morphometry according to UBM data for the correct determination of early patient management tactics: with a favorable type - dynamic observation, with an unfavorable type - earlier treatment in order to stabilize the pathological process.
