FIELD: waste water treatment.
SUBSTANCE: method for treating a water-based liquid containing a biodegradable organic substance includes treating the liquid in a conditioning tank, then supplying liquid from the conditioning tank to the lower part of the bioreactor, contacting the supplied liquid with biomass, resulting in the formation of biogas. From the upper part of the bioreactor, the liquid that has contacted with the biomass and contains the biomass is removed. An aqueous liquid containing biomass removed from the top of the bioreactor is fed to an external separator. The biomass-containing water-based liquid is separated into a biomass-reduced or essentially biomass-free liquid phase and a biomass-enriched fluid phase, which is returned from the external separator to the bioreactor. To return said fluid phase enriched in biomass from the external separator to the bioreactor, biogas from the bioreactor is introduced into the pipeline. A portion of said liquid phase, having a reduced biomass content or essentially no biomass, is returned from the external separator to the conditioning tank. Also disclosed is an apparatus for microbiological treatment of an aqueous liquid.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of waste water treatment.
