SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for microbiological treatment of an aqueous fluid medium containing a biodegradable organic substance. The method for microbiological treatment of an aqueous fluid medium containing a biodegradable organic substance whereby biogas is produced in a plant, comprises a bioreactor (1), preferably, a bioreactor operating under anaerobic conditions, and a separate tank (2). The method includes (i) a stage of loading into a bioreactor, (ii) a cyclic reaction stage whereat biogas is produced in the bioreactor (1), temporarily stored in the separate tank (2), and then at least one subsequent stage (iii) including a stage of deposition of solid particles and/or a stage of draining the output flow of the aqueous fluid medium, wherein the biogas stored in the separate tank (2) is used to reduce the fluctuations in the output flow (15) of biogas from the plant, and the subsequent stage (iii) includes a phase of deposition of an aqueous suspension and/or draining the output flow of the fluid medium.
