FIELD: ferrous metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: production of steel in a converter. The metal charge is loaded into the converter, slag-forming materials are added, the converter bath is purged with oxygen, the semi-product is poured into the steel ladle in an amount of 5 - 50% of the weight of the metal charge with a carbon content of 2.0 - 3.8%, the remaining converter bath is purged with oxygen until the carbon content not exceeding 0.2% is reached; then molten metal is released into a steel ladle with a semi-product, the resulting steel is processed out of the furnace and then cast.
EFFECT: smelting high-quality high-carbon steel grades, including rope steels.
