FIELD: ferrous metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: slag lining is formed on the bottom of the pelletizer. Wet charge is fed into the pelletizer in two streams, the first of which is introduced into the compressed gas flow to form a gas-moisture charge jet. At the bottom of the pelletizer, a zone occupied by the charge and a zone free of the charge are formed. Nucleation is carried out by spraying the charge with a gas-moisture charge jet oriented towards the slag lining in a charge-free zone to obtain a dense layer of wet charge. The said dense layer of wet charge is divided into nuclei, the slag lining is cleared of nuclei, and the nuclei are further pelletized with the charge of the second flow into pellets. Before further compaction of the nuclei, an additional flow of the charge is separated from the second flow of the charge, directed to an auxiliary jet apparatus and an auxiliary gas-moisture charge stream is formed, which is oriented to the upper region of the zone occupied by the charge, and this area is screened with a screen in the shape of an open circle. Moreover, the gap between the screen and the slag lining on the side of the zone occupied by the charge is set equal to the size of the nuclei. Charge consumption in the additional charge flow is 10-30% of charge consumption in the second flow.

EFFECT: strengthening of nuclei of substandard sizes and accelerates growth of this part of the nuclei to standard sizes, increasing pellet strength and productivity of the pelletizer.
