FIELD: radio engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for determining the location of a radio emission source (RES), and is intended for use in navigation, direction finding, and location aids for determining the location of RES. The invention is proposed to increase the accuracy of determining the coordinates of RES in three-dimensional space under conditions of multipath propagation of radio waves (MPRP). The claimed method is based on the reception of RES radio signals by each of the receiving points (RP) with known coordinates and measuring the time of arrival of the radio signal. For all possible pairs of RPs, the differences in arrival times of the radio signal from the RES to the RPs of this pair are calculated and the corresponding range differences are calculated from them. A set of intermediate coordinate estimates (ICE) of the RES is formed by determining the ICE using the difference-rangefinder method for various combinations of four RPs. RPs in MPRP conditions are identified. The final estimate of the coordinates of the RES is obtained by calculating the arithmetic mean of the ICE, taking into account the identified RPs in MPRP conditions.
EFFECT: increased accuracy of determining the coordinates of RES in three-dimensional space under conditions of multipath propagation of radio waves (MPRP).
