FIELD: drilling plan tool.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions is related to the field of capturing a drilling plan in a horizontal directional drilling system. A plan survey tool plans the movement of a drilling tool for an underground drilling operation. The capturing tool includes one or more wheels for rolling over the surface of the earth along a path in response to movement by an operator to determine the contour of the surface and guide the drilling tool to reach a desired position. Planning can optionally be based on waypoints. The plan survey tool can be rotated in one or two directions to define the contour of a surface. Bidirectional movement eliminates fixed accelerometer offset. Path stitching is used to capture a plan around obstacles. The plan survey tool makes it easier to place the tracking device. The plan capture tool allows you to collect noise information for frequency selection purposes. The described method maximally optimizes linear drilling when using an underground plan. Compensation and/or warnings are provided for erratic, fast and slow movement of the plan capture tool when measuring a surface contour.
EFFECT: provision of a drilling direction around obstacles to the desired target points during drilling in real time.
