SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing 1-(3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl)-1H-imidazole by alkylation of imidazole (3-chloropropyl)trimethoxysilane, previously activated by conversion to imidazolyl sodium by the action of a strong base in an organic solvent characterized by the base used an equimolar amount of sodium hydroxide, the reaction carried out in toluene with constant separation of the resulting water, and subsequent alkylation carried out at boiling for 15 hours.

EFFECT: production of 1-(3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl)-1H-imidazole using available starting reagents and a solvent providing a high yield (82%) of the target product.
