SUBSTANCE: optical measurement of the linear dimensions of an object. The claimed automated system for determining the dimensions of an object, containing a depth camera, which is configured to transfer information to a data processing module from the depth camera, and the data processing module from the depth camera is configured to transfer data to the module for analyzing masks of measured areas in binarized matrices. In this case, in the module for analyzing masks of the measured areas, after receiving the binarized matrices, the boundary points of the perimeter of the measured area are traversed, the obtained data is compared using a statistical function with constant threshold values, then the average value for each parameter is selected and the resulting binarized matrix is formed, defining a mask that follows the contours area of interest, from which the overall dimensions of the measured object are determined. Additionally, the automated system contains an infrared camera.

EFFECT: increasing the accuracy of measuring the linear dimensions of objects.
